Western Bulldogs FC premiership player, Fletcher Roberts joins the Ladder Team This week Ladder welcomed Western Bulldogs Football Club premiership player, Fletcher Roberts, to the team. Fletcher joins Ladder as Melbourne Program Coordinator and will bring experience as a premiership player and past Ladder mentor and advocate. Fletcher said he was looking forward to working on the development of a new Ladder program that will support secondary students. "I'm excited about supporting with the development and implementation of the new Melbourne program. The program will work with disengaged students in a secondary school setting and I’m looking forward to developing some strong, positive connections with the young people,” Fletcher said. Fletcher has always had a passion for young people and recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He will play a key role in the development and delivery of an exciting new Melbourne-based program and said Fletcher first got involved with Ladder in 2015 when he signed up to the 1:1 Mentoring Program while playing for the Western Bulldogs Football Club. Fletcher was matched with Ladder young person, Shaun and successfully completed a 12-month relationship, during which time he worked closely with Shaun to reach his identified goals. Fletcher has also been involved with Ladder as an advocate during our 2017 ‘Change the Number’ campaign, selling premiership cup pins during AFL finals matches to raise much needed funds for Ladder programs. Through his previous engagement with both the AFL industry and Ladder, Fletcher understands the importance of having players actively involved in Ladder programs, as the AFL Players’ Association official charity. “Having engaged as a mentor with Ladder in the past while playing in the AFL, I understand the importance of AFL industry engagement, and will endeavour to strengthen this partnership into the future. I have seen firsthand the great work Ladder do and couldn't be happier to be involved more formally with this new program,“ he said.
