Surviving Adolescence COMPLETE THE REFERRAL/ENQUIRY FORM HERE With the support of the Latrobe Health Assembly, Ladder completed a feasibility study focused on an extension of the Step Up Latrobe Valley program. This was to implement a parenting program that would support and assist parents and allow them to better help enhance their child’s outcomes from engaging in the Step Up Latrobe Valley program. Surviving Adolescence is a parenting program with a difference. This pilot program is facilitated in a supportive environment for 6-8 parents per program and runs for two hours once a week, for seven weeks. The sessions delivered encourage parents to bring about positive change to the family and offer practical strategies to help strengthen and maintain a supportive relationship with their adolescents. Surviving Adolescence will help parents and carers understand: How it feels to be an adolescent The stages of adolescent development Approaching conflict situations with their adolescent Expectations placed on adolescents and how it impacts their behaviour How their interactions with their adolescent can strengthen their relationship “This program shows that there is hope and help, no matter how hopeless it feels at times." – Surviving Adolescence parent program participant “It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one having to deal with these issues” - Surviving Adolescence parent program participant If you would like to refer into the program or make an enquiry, complete the form here.
