As the official charity of the AFL Players’ Association, AFL and AFLW players make a lasting contribution to Ladder programs and our young people. Last week, the North Melbourne Football Club hosted young people from Ladder Step Up Latrobe Valley Program 20 at Arden St for a very special morning. First off, young people got to see a North Melbourne AFL training session in action. This was followed up with a tour of the Club facilities.

Following the tour, players Aidan Corr, Aiden Bonar, Hugh Greenwood and Luke Davies-Uniacke had a chat with our program participants and shared what a “day in the life” of a football player looked like.

As our Program 20 participants are about to pursue their education, training and career goals, they appreciated the players sharing their own personal journeys to playing AFL and how their careers have developed. Our young people and Development Coaches really appreciated the opportunity to hear these stories and ask the players a range of questions.

“We went to a training session for North Melbourne football club. I really enjoyed how chilled the dudes were. It was nice talking to sports stars that were totally down to earth and easy to talk to” – Program participant

The North Melbourne Football and it’s players have a proud history of supporting Ladder and our young people. Sincerest thanks to everyone at the Club who took the time to give our young people a fantastic experience.
