After a successful first Navigator program, Ladder together with Berry Street, are implementing the second of three Navigator programs in Gippsland to support students to return to education and learning.

During the second week of the Navigator program, Melbourne Demons AFLW player Eliza West dialled in for a Q&A session with program participants online.

Eliza shared her personal life experiences with the group and her journey from playing in US College Basketball to becoming an AFLW player. She also shared her advice on how to remain resilient and motivated to achieve her goals.

One of the program participants worked with Ladder Development Coaches prior to the session to compile a list of questions she wanted to ask Eliza and she was then able to facilitate some of the Q&A session all by herself. She really enjoyed listening to Eliza speak about keeping motivated especially around school attendance.

“It was really cool to speak with an AFLW Player and hear about how they can overcome things and keep going”.

AFL and AFLW players often participate in our programs with young people and we are so grateful for the knowledge, experience and fun they bring to the sessions.
