Ladder Step Up Sydney Partnership Event On Wednesday 26th May, Ladder invited a range of community sector organisations to our inaugural morning tea event in Blacktown. The event was organised to learn more about Ladder and share some of the outcomes of the Step Up Sydney program with partners and organisations, existing and new. There were over 60 people in attendance. We had a number of different speakers including representatives from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Ladder staff and two case workers who we work with. The key message for the day was how Ladder Step Up Sydney can make a real and lasting impact on the lives of young people with an out-of-home care experience. "I’ve learned how to communicate with others. To be more confident in speaking. I’ve gained some new friends and some life skills such as cooking and cleaning" - Nathan, program participant There were also some future opportunities presented for program outreach, to enable the program to benefit young people that might not necessarily be based in the Sydney region. A program alumni also came along to assist with the set up and registration for the day. "I’d like to use the skills and strengths I’ve learnt in the Ladder program with other people who have been in my situation" - Elijah, program participant Thanks to everyone who came along to celebrate the fantastic achievements of the program to date.
