Five more young people graduated from our Step Up Latrobe Valley program and we are so proud to have seen them grow and develop over the course of this program.

Each young person set an education, training or employment goal for themselves at the start of the program. Since graduating, one young person has gained employment and three others are pursuing studies through Flexible Learning Options, TAFE and completing a local course with Berry Street. One young person is still working on their goal to re-engage with education and employment and we will continue to support them.

Another focus for this particular group was to work on their communication, confidence and independent living skills. Each young person showed a great improvement throughout the program and Ladder staff noticed a huge change from when they first walked into the Ladder office. They were once shy and reserved and by the end of the program, they had come out of their shell and the staff really got to know them and their wonderful personalities.

Throughout the program, the young people participated in all the Ladder Development Programs with great enthusiasm. They also really got a lot out of the other experiences including volunteering at Morwell Neighbourhood House, a day out at Tarrabulga National Park with Melbourne Football Club AFLW players, attending a number of industry workplace tours and having the opportunity to present at an ANZ summit event.

The Ladder program helped me improve my communication and helped me with my confidence. The program also helped get me out of my comfort zone attending an ANZ event which I would not have been able to do without the program" - Program Participant

We look forward to continuing to work with the young people and supporting their journeys post the Ladder program.
