Program 21 of Ladder Step Up Latrobe Valley kicked off to a great start with a lot of enthusiasm and engagement from our young people.

As part of Ladder programs, participants engage in a range of activities including tours of local organisations in their community, to learn more about their facilities and the services and opportunities they provide to our young people.

Last week, the young people attended Gippsland Employment Skills and Training (GEST), a not-for-profit registered training organisation based in Morwell that provides a range of courses and pre-employment training and mentoring to people in the community.

Our young people signed up to the GEST Work and Learning Centre that supports job seekers and were also assisted to create their resume and cover letter. The friendly staff sat down with each young person to talk about potential courses or training opportunities that would best suit their interests.

It was great to see our young people connect with another service in the local community and work on their employment and education pathways. We will continue to work with participants in the program to support them to achieve their identified goals.
