North Melbourne Football Club proudly stands beside Ladder in our shared mission to empower young people to reach their full potential. The club has supported Ladder through player involvement and advocacy and in the past two years, we’ve reached new heights through two incredible Ladder Alumni and Player programs that have created powerful opportunities for connection, growth, and mutual inspiration between players and Ladder participants.

Recently, our Ladder participants were welcomed to the heart of North Melbourne, Arden Street Oval, for an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression.

The group was greeted by Esther Hassett, Head of Player Excellence (AFLW), who took them on an exclusive tour of the club’s facilities. Excitement was high as participants watched the AFLW team’s training session ahead of their Prelim Finals match, gaining a firsthand look at what it takes to compete at the elite level. Despite their packed schedule, Coach Darren Crocker, Ladder Advocate Emma Kearney, and the AFLW players took the time to meet and chat with the participants inspiring smiles, confidence, and connection all around.

“It felt unreal to be treated like the same. No one put themselves above us and it felt like we mattered. The players were so friendly.” – Courtney, program participant

“Meeting the AFLW players was the best part. They were so down to earth, and it felt good that they were happy to talk to us.” – Bella, Ladder Alumni

And just when the day seemed complete, it got even better. The AFL players also made time to stop by during their preseason training, offering encouragement and insight. It was clear the Ladder team weren’t just visitors. They were valued guests and welcomed as part of the North family.

The day at Arden Street Oval was more than a club visit. It was a moment of inspiration and belief for our participants who felt seen and encouraged by people who chase big goals and push each other to grow. Participants left feeling motivated, supported, and ready to kick their own goals.

“Seeing how hard they work made me want to get my own goals sorted.” – Robert, program participant

“I walked out feeling happier - like good things are possible for me too.” – Pheonix, program participant

“The vibe was awesome. Everyone at North made us feel at home.” – Mitch, program participant

We’re incredibly grateful to Esther Hassett, the North Melbourne Football Club, and everyone involved for making the day such a success. Your ongoing support of Ladder, our programs, and our young people continues to create real impact.
