Through Ladder's ongoing partnership with Djerriwarrh Community and Education Services, we are running a five-week program with Djerriwarrh’s Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students.

As part of the Victorian Government Education and Training Department’s Reconnect Program, participants will engage in a number of Ladder Development Programs (LDPs) that focus on mental health and wellbeing, teamwork and communication, independence and routine.

In the first session, the 12 participants learned about S.M.A.R.T. goals and were encouraged to come up with their own individual goals as part of their daily lives and future. Setting goals are important for everyone, and with Ladder’s support, the participants are setting goals early on and consistently working on achieving them.

Some S.M.A.R.T. goals that the participants identified included attending each of the Ladder sessions and getting eight hours of sleep each night.

While the first group of 12 participants were quite shy at the beginning, they quickly understood the S.M.A.R.T. goals process and how it can be applied to many aspects of their daily lives.

We look forward to working in partnership with Djerriwarrh to assist participants to develop a range of skills and capabilities over the course of the program.
