Last week we celebrated the graduation of our final Step Up Latrobe Valley program for the year, Program 17.

The main focus identified by this group was gaining employment, furthering their education (TAFE courses), and building confidence within themselves.

This particular group had shown an enormous amount of resilience as the young people had faced some adversity through COVID-19 restrictions and also overcoming their own personal barriers.

The Development Coaches observed a lot of personal growth as each young person really got out of their comfort zone in an effort to improve themselves. They overcame their nerves to complete their mock interviews and received great feedback from our ANZ volunteers who conducted them. Through the outdoor sessions organised by the Development Coaches, the young people were also able to go on big walks and complete activities they normally wouldn't.

The young people particularly enjoyed having North Melbourne AFLW players Emma Kearney and Daisy Bateman share their knowledge and expertise in multiple online sessions with the group.

We wish the young people from Program 17 all the best for their future endeavours and we will continue to support them every step of the way.
