Courtney was referred to the Ladder Step Up Sydney program by her case worker due to insecure housing.

Since joining the program, Courtney has formed a great bond with her Ladder Development Coach who Courtney says reminds her of her brother, as she provides great advice like him. One of Courtney's goals was to secure employment and with the support of Ladder, Courtney secured a job trial at a local café.

"I made food such as breakfast burritos, smashed avocado on toast and toasted banana bread. I had the best fun and I didn't feel left out because the café trainers were really nice. I think I did really good as the team said I smashed it!"

Through the Ladder program, Courtney also found out about a volunteering job with the animal holding facility. She loves animals and would love to work with them. Courtney commences her induction this month and is looking forward to caring for the animals.

Courtney is also about to get her learner driver license and has one more interview before she will be booked in for the test. It's been a very educational process for her, and she can't wait.

"The Ladder program has made me more resilient. All the Ladder staff know how to talk to you to build you up. Most of my goals have been met since I have been in Ladder, which has been really good as some of the workers I had in the past took a long time to secure appointments for me"

Courtney recommends the Ladder Step Up program and her advice for other young people thinking of joining is

"Definitely complete it! Because you're gonna need it. I've come out stronger because of Ladder and it has helped those around me, because when I'm more positive it makes those around me more positive".
