"Ladder made me feel like I wasn’t doing this alone. I actually felt seen and backed the whole way through" “Ladder made me feel like I wasn’t doing this alone. I actually felt seen and backed the whole way through.” - Mitch Last week, we proudly welcomed eight new graduates into our Ladder Alumni program. Their completion of the program marks an important milestone. One built on commitment, courage and the shared belief that positive change is possible. Each participant joined the program with different goals ready to kick: jobs to pursue, confidence to build, habits to strengthen and futures to shape. No matter what they aimed to achieve, they arrived ready to put in the work and to lift each other up along the way. “Everyone here believed in me even on days I didn’t. That changed everything.” - Noah “I came in nervous, but I left feeling confident and connected. Ladder feels like a team that sticks with you.” - Veronika To set participants up for success, we started with the essential paperwork that can be straightforward for some but daunting without the right support. Throughout the program we helped participants secure tax file numbers, open bank accounts, and in one case, locate a birth certificate. These early wins laid the groundwork for bigger achievements ahead. “The support didn’t stop when the session ended. I felt guided, encouraged and understood the whole time.” - Rob From the outset, this group built a strong bond. They chose an unofficial anthem, adopted Zuko the German Shepherd as their mascot, and showed up for each other in meaningful ways. Our Ladder Development Coaches worked closely with each participant to help them reach their self-identified goals through one-on-one coaching and group experiences like community volunteering, TAFE and industry tours, and organising sessions run by local guest speakers. The group also enjoyed memorable opportunities, including club tours and meet-and-greets with AFL and AFLW teams. Program Outcomes: One graduate has commenced TAFE studies, and another is preparing to re-enrol in 2026. One participant has secured casual employment. Five participants are actively pursuing job opportunities. Their achievements reflect not only their effort but also the power of a community that believes in their potential. As Alumni members, they’ll continue to have access to Ladder’s ongoing support with our open door always available whenever they need guidance, encouragement or simply a familiar face. “This was the first program where I felt like I could be myself and still be supported to grow.” - Courtney We are incredibly proud of this group and excited to stand beside them as they take their next steps.
